Watching some of the youtube videos from the Model 3 test rides and saw that the wiper speed is controlled by the central touch screen. I wonder if, when the wipers are on, the scroll wheel will control the speed as well. I hope so, I absolutely love the contextual controls the scroll wheels will provide. They allow for constant improvement via software updates.

the wipers should be automatic - so any adjustment on the screen is likely something you will rarely need to adjust, like are you someone that like them running frequently or more seldom, but not needing to adjust on a regular basis.

It will be interesting though to see everything the steering wheel thumb buttons will control though - which is looking like most everything you would use the touchscreen for.

We saw videos showing moving the steering wheel height and side mirrors using the knobs on the steering wheel following tapping a setting on the central screen. It looks like the steering wheel controls will be quite diverse.

Would be annoying if you had to use the touch screen to wash the windscreen

I saw mention elsewhere that the steering wheel controls can control the wiper speed.
It looks like you swipe right to get to wiper controls as seen in this video. Once there you can probably select settings on the screen, or move the steering wheel controls to vary speed and possibly select mode.
Tesla dragged their feet for a while on automatic wipers using their cameras in the S, for some reason not really a priority. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't working get on the 3.
